Nature Narratives

Naratifau Natur

Sound Memories works closely with older people, their families &/or carers to record the environmental narrative of that person's life, so that they can stay connected to self through the sound, even though they can no longer come outdoors. We are working with older people to bring the outdoors, inside. The sound maps are then shared here for others to enjoy.

Throughout the pandemic, our Director, Cheryl Beer, has been collating the favourite walks of older people who have been unable to come outside due to Covid 19. The Walk 19 Cerdded Exhibition is available by clicking the link below.
WALK 19 CERDDED
Mae Atgofion Sain yn gweithio'n agos gyda phobl hŷn, eu teuluoedd ac/neu eu gofalwyr i recordio naratif amgylcheddol bywyd y person hwnnw, fel y gallant barhau i ymgysylltu â'u hunan trwy'r sain, er na allan nhw bellach ddod allan i'r awyr agored. Rydyn ni'n gweithio gyda phobl hŷn i ddod â'r tu allan i'r tu mewn. Wedyn, mae'r mapiau sain yn cael eu rhannu yma fel y gall eraill eu mwynhau.

Yn ddiweddar, mae ein Cyfarwyddwr, Cheryl Beer, wedi derbyn cymorth gan Gyngor Celfyddydau Cymru i ddatblygu ei gwaith fel Artist Sain, yn coladu hoff deithiau cerdded pobl hŷn sydd wedi methu â dod allan oherwydd Covid-19. Enw'r prosiect newydd yw Cerdded 19. Cewch wybodaeth amdano drwy glicio ar y ddolen

Jackdaw Choir at St. Ismael's.

Our Director, Cheryl Beer is an Environmental Sound Artist. When she visited a beautiful church in the lanes between Ferryside & Llansaint - St.Ishmael's, she inadvertently awakened a choir of jackdaws on the roof - so moved by how their song resonated in the church, she couldn't resist making a wee soundscape for you to experience it too. The link below will take you to the National Churches Trust, giving the full history of the church,

Nature Narrative Special Guest: John Walters

Our current Nature Narrative Special Guest is John Walters who lives in Newport. John has started filming the birds in his back garden. If you have hearing sensitivities you may want to turn the volume off or down low before pressing play, as there is quite a loud river noise and passing traffic, but the visual is beautifully captured, which we feel is even more poignant given that John has a visual impairment. He is also a fine musician and carpenter - Thankyou for sharing your birds with us, John. If you would like to be a Nature Narrative Special Guest, contact Cheryl Beer at our Facebook Page
