Cymmer, Porth, Rhondda is where I grew up as a boy. I lived in a small street at first, with 6 houses. We would take the dogs for a walk up the mountain. We had to cross the main road in Cymmer, up past the sea cadets, we'd all go together, you see, up the small hill, to the entrance of the mountain. From the wasteland there's a walking path which you could use at any time, with no restriction, today it's blocked off. Then let the dog off the lead. There was absolutely nothing up the mountain, nothing at all, just grass and the sheep would be up there, second nature.
You can get into Bronwydd Park half way up Cymmer Hill and once you're in, you've got to go through woodlands. There is also a monument there, of the man who, if my memory is correct, started off the Corona works for pop. You could get through the railings that were broken and there was a stream. From there you would go up to the top of the mountain. You could spend hours up there if you wanted to, on your own or with your mates. That's going back quite a few years. I was just a boy. You could see all the land and houses, down to Pontypridd or the other way, up towards Treorchy; all of the valley. We'd just go up there with the dogs to play about with an air riffle and a flagon of cider. It's been so long since I've seen it. - Terry |

O'r tir anial mae llwybr cerdded y gallech ei ddefnyddio ar unrhyw adeg, heb unrhyw rwystrau. Heddiw mae'r llwybr wedi'i gau. Yna tynnu tennyn y ci. Doedd dim o gwbl ar y mynydd, dim byd, dim ond glaswellt a'r defaid fyddai yno, ail natur.
Gallwch fynd i mewn i Barc Bronwydd hanner ffordd i fyny Rhiw'r Cymer a phan fyddwch yn y parc, rhaid i chi fynd trwy goedwig. Mae cofeb yno hefyd, os dwi'n cofio'n iawn, i'r dyn a gychwynnodd y ffatri bop Corona. Gallech fynd i mewn drwy'r rheilins oedd wedi torri ac roedd nant yno. O fanna, byddech yn mynd i ben y mynydd. Gallech dreulio oriau yno os oeddech eisiau, ar eich pen eich hun neu gyda'ch mêts. Dwi'n mynd nôl tipyn o flynyddoedd nawr. Bachgen ifanc oeddwn i. Gallech weld yr holl dir a'r tai, i lawr at Bontypridd, neu'r ffordd arall, i fyny at Dreorci: y cwm i gyd. Bydden ni'n mynd i fyny yno a chwarae o gwmpas â gwn aer a fflagen o seidr.
